Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:108.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/108.0
Steps to reproduce:
Nothing, this happens sometimes when I'm using the browser, sometimes when I'm not doing anything in it and playing a game for example.
Actual results:
Firefox keeps crashing to desktop, and when I restart it it has lost many of my logins and even site preferences, for example on Youtube I need to login again and also switch to dark mode and set the language to English every time this happens. It's supremely annoying and it has been happening for months now, about once per week. Please fix Firefox so it stops crashing.
Expected results:
Firefox should not crash.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::about:logins' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Reporter, does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables add-ons, extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems.) See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Also can you please attach the crash logs more details on how to collect them here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter#:~:text=To%20view%20your%20crash%20reports,button%20to%20view%20the%20report.
Thank you.

Under about:crashes this was the only report listed, which is strange because there should be several, but here at least is the most recent one: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/9d093159-4845-4194-93a1-736610221221
I can't reproduce the problem in safe mode, but the problem doesn't happen that often, about once a week and completely unpredictable, so that might just be down to coincidence.

This is very strange; does this coincide with using your webcam in the browser in any way?

No it doesn't.
It just happened again actually, I was just playing a game and my browser was open, but I was not doing anything. Again it forgot all my logins and preferences I set in YouTube, which is supremely frustrating.
I did get an official crash popup this time, so at least I could copy the details from it, so have at it:

Ok, so that crash happened without any actual use of the camera. I'm guessing that when we got here, message_loop() returned a nullptr:
I suspect we're running into a situation where sVideoCaptureThread's platform thread has finished, resulting in message_loop_ being set to NULL, and then we try to dispatch a new task.

This does look like bug 1790160. Would you be willing to disable Avast/switch to something else to see if that helps?

I'm using the paid version of Avast and disabling it doesn't seem wise, this bug doesn't happen that often so I would need to wait weeks before I would know with any certainty that Firefox doesn't crash anymore.

Ok. I think we have a decent grip on this bug anyhow. We should be able to see the effect of a fix in crash-stats.
