From github: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/11862.

What is the user problem or growth opportunity you want to see solved?

I like the new design but it it feels inconsistent. If you can swipe down to close the menu why can't you swipe up to open it?

How do you know that this problem exists today? Why is this important?

It would make the app easier to use because you won't have to aim for the tab button and it would feel more natural with the gestures.

Who will benefit from it?

Better accessibly for left handed people

Attached video Chrome example

This video shows swiping on the tab button to open the tab menu on Chrome Android. On Firefox it would probably want to be a swipe down if the nav bar is at the top, and swipe up if the nav bar is at the bottom

I would like to bump this issue, so that it doesn't get lost by chance. This is a feature that I and a lot of other users would highly appreciate. In fact, it's one of the few reasons I haven't made the switch to it quite yet.

Trying to migrate from Brave/Chrome, but it's very difficult not being able to access the tab switcher page with gestures. The tabs button is just too small. Would be great to see this added as a customisation option (or even better, default).

Not just the swipe gesture. The whole address bar actually needs a rewrite. It still has outdated outlines that are not suitable for gestures at all.
