User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:108.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/108.0
Steps to reproduce:
Closed Firefox and reopened it.
Actual results:
All of the tabs that were open did NOT open.
Expected results:
Firefox should have opened all the previously open tabs upon restart. Also, shouldn't recently closed tabs should have been shown? The option to Open previous windows and tabs was selected. This is the second time fairly recently that this has occurred. I am running it on a desktop computer running Windows 10 PRO: 22H2 Build 19045.2364. This is especially bad when I lose important tabs and cannot find a way to open them again!!

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Session Restore' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello, thank you for the bug report!
Unfortunately I could not reproduce your issue. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions so we can investigate this further?
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
- Does this issue happen with latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
- Does this issue happen when Firefox is in Troubleshoot Mode? Here's a link on how to enable it: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-troubleshoot-mode
Thank you.
Support,
It has also occurred after a Windows 10 in place repair. As for changing profiles, I am concerned about my settings and bookmarks. I have a very large bookmark file.

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:dao, could you have a look please?
For more information, please visit auto_nag documentation.
I have not tried using Firefox in Troubleshooting mode. It looks like it would be rather disruptive but I will see how things go. Perhaps I can later.
I can change Priority but there is no option to change the Severity. The issue has occurred again after a Windows Update, as I recall. This time, I was able to restore all the Tabs by restoring one, as I recall from History in the Hamburger Menu. As for severity level, the first time it was S2, afterward it was S3 except for just a little while ago I closed Firefox, including this Tab to test it and when reopened, none of the previous Tabs opened! This is real disruptive to my work to try to restore Tabs manually as I do research and it take a while to restore my many Tabs that are open. So the Severity should be S2.
Closing Firefox, whether due to Windows restarting for an Update or manually using the Close Gadget has the same effect. All Tabs are lost and when Firefox opens, only the Yahoo is opened.
Please fix soon.
I wanted to report that I put Firefox in Troubleshooting mode and closed it with the Close gadget. It did not reopen the Tabs. While in Troubleshooting mode and then turning it off, Firefox closed and restarted and reopened the Tabs that were open.
I wanted to report that while Firefox was in normal mode, I closed it. When reopened, none of the previous Tabs opened and only the Yahoo Tab opened. I selected "History" on the Hamburger menu and selected "Recently closed windows" and selected one website I wanted to restore. After clicking on the one website name, another Firefox window opened and it appeared that ALL of the previous Tabs opened that were open when Firefox was closed. So, then I had two Firefox windows open, one with only one Tab at Yahoo and the second window with what appeared to have all of my previous Tabs before closing it.
I request that this issue be resolved soon! My Windows version is 22H2 build 190.45.2486 and Firefox version is 109.0 64 bit.
The issues occurred again. I closed Firefox and when reopened none of the previous Tabs were opened but a new Yahoo Tab. I then clicked on History | Recently Closed Windows and clicked on an item. When I did that, another Firefox Window opened with all of my previous Tabs listed.
When will you fix this issue?

The issue occurred again after restarting Windows for a Update. This time, after clicking on the Firefox icon on the Taskbar it opened with one blank Tab. Shortly afterward, all of the programs opened that were open when I selected Update and Restart Windows, including Firefox. So, then I had two Firefox Windows open, one with one blank Tab and the other included all of the Tabs that appeared to be open before selecting the Update and Restart Windows option.
Please fix.

My Firefox version is now 112.0.2 and now Windows 10 is 22H2 Build 19045.2788.
Firefox just lost ALL of my previous opened tabs AGAIN today 4/25/2023 when closed and reopened! The huge issue is that I do research and leave tabs open for even longer than a week and when this happens it is impossible to go back through all the History and find the lost Tabs! A few times I have gotten lucky and when going to History | Recently Closed Tabs, by selecting one on them, all of the previous opened Tabs reappear. This is also strange operation. Another interesting thing is that Firefox closed, I believe twice today without my intervention.
Firefox's inability to restore my Tabs after a restart automatically has been going on way too long. PLEASE FIX!

After updating Windows to 22H2 Build 19045.2846, today 4/25/2023 and clicking on the Firefox icon to open it, I got two Firefox Windows, one in which had what appeared my previous Tabs automatically restored and the other with Yahoo Search on the one Tab. Both Windows were resized---smaller than normal and positioned to the right of center of the monitor screen.
See attached screenshot, for reference.
Please fix without further delay!!!
