User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:108.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/108.0
Steps to reproduce:
I'm on an Apple Silicon late-2021_BTO_M1-Max_16-inch_MacBook-Pro [model 18,2], running Ventura v13.1 .
I entered a phrase in the right-hand search bar, and the default search-engine (DuckDuckGo) performed the search, but results were not pleasing, to tired to change search-engine to Google or Bing, on-the-fly, by using search-bar search-engine icons, but search-engine could no-longer be changed, reliably, on-the-fly .
Actual results:
no new search-engine was activated on right-hand-phrase, and results-page, did not change .
Expected results:
The landed-upon new search-engine for Google or Bing, SHOULD have activated the selected new search-engine, and new results, SHOULD have appeared, but didn't !

I experienced this, on the latest Firefox desktop-version v108.0.2 .

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Search' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Please can you try giving some clearer steps to repeat? For example:
- I selected the search bar and entered some text
- I selected a different engine at the bottom of the search bar by clicking on it with the mouse.
Try and refer to the actions you are performing rather than the emotions. Also include clear actions about what you expect (e.g. "the results page loaded in the browser window", or "the search bar suggestions updated").

I'm in version 109.0, and, ever since v108.0.2, I can't Google-search, from the menu-bar, when switching from the default DuckDuckGo-search results ! I've got TWO search-boxes, in the title-bar, and the way to change search-engines, on a temporary-basis, is to click-upon the "spyglass"-icon in the right-hand search-box, and the drop-down window, at its bottom, says, " This time, search with : " -- THAT'S where the "Google"-icon appears, and NORMAL-behavior, when clicking-upon the Google-icon, is that the search would be re-run, using the Google search-engine, but it is a no-go, now ! The "Bing"-search engine icon STILL seems to work . It is possible that my third-party firewall rule-set, is interfering, with the Google-icon's search-engine's activation .

Hi leftblank15,
Are you able to go to directly www.google.com from the address bar?

My understanding of comment 4 is that the steps to reproduce are:
- Make a search in the search bar using an engine, with DuckDuckGo as the default.
- Click the magnifying glass icon.
- Click the Google button.
At this stage the reporter is seeing that Google does not load.
We are unable to reproduce this, and without more information we're not going to be able to fix this. It sounds like an issue with either the user's set-up, or maybe some third party software is interfering.
Marking as incomplete as this would need more information to proceed.

It is possible that my third-party firewall, had a ruleset, that was interfering with the Google Search Engine .
