Details: Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.1-b21 File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java(TM) Plug-in1.4.1 The link to the java plugin directory is created correctly. The problem is when I visit a page that cointains java like www.gecko.com, the icon that simbolizes no java presence appears. It's not related to that site because I noticed the problem while configuring an appliance. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create the symbolic link of java plugin in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugindirectory 2. Visit a site with java Actual Results: The no java icon appears Expected Results: execute java code I'm using no official builds so I'm unable to confirm if this is happening with the official RPM builds. You can take a look at bug ID: 171891
Do you compile yourself or which build do you use ?
Hello, Sorry for not replying sooner. I use the build stated in bug ID: 171891 http://rpm.nogin.org/regularly_built/moz/ByDate.html
-> invalid please reopen if you know that this builds are not compiled with gcc3.x If they are compiled with gcc3.x, Java can't work (because they are compiled with an older compiler). This is known and it's a dupe. (you can search yourself to find this bug)

Yes, this is a dup of bug 116444. Reopening to mark as a dup. My rh8 RPMs are compiled with gcc 3.2 (which is the default on Red Hat 8.0) and is not supposed to work with Java. P.S. My rh7 RPMs are compiled with the older gcc, so they might work with Java (have not tried Java on those myself, have not tried running them on Red Hat 8 either; and no xft on those).
