After the Windows 11 22H2 update, now that bug 1806091 has been fixed, Firefox Nighty ASan just crashes on startup. Sometimes the main window will partially load and it will briefly show the "tab crashed" message on the current tab before Firefox completely crashes a few seconds later. Other times I will very briefly get a popup stating that "Nightly closed unexpectedly while starting" and asking to "Open Nightly in Troubleshooting Mode", but that too crashes after a couple of seconds, regardless if I click either of the buttons. In all cases, Firefox hard crashes and the crash reporter never opens.

I attached a screenshot of the error in the Event View.

Reinstalling Firefox Nightly ASan did not help. I had no issues with Nightly ASan before the Windows 11 22H2 update. I have not had any issues with Thunderbird Daily ASan since bug 1806091 was fixed.

This is unlikely to be a problem specific to the "ASan Nightly" build/project, but rather affecting all ASan builds on that OS/update.

We need to continue to maintain ASan on Windows and this is something the OS integration team should likely look into.

gcp, decoder suggested that somebody on the OS integration team might be able to investigate this issue with our ASan build on Windows not working since a Windows update 8 months ago or so. Do you know who might be able to look into this? Thanks.

I am unable to reproduce the issue on my up-to-date Windows 11 22H2 machine.

[:tdulcet], are you still experiencing this issue today? What OS Build version shows up if you type winver in Windows+R? Can you share a link to the ASAN build you are using?

I downloaded target.zip from:

I ran firefox.exe and the browser launched fine. I verified I could browse and shutdown ok.

I have win11 22H2 22621.2428.

I tried for months opening Firefox Nightly ASan everyday. The auto updater worked as expected, but Firefox would then immediately crash on startup. After six months or so I finally gave up on it ever working and installed the regular non-ASan Nightly, which did work as expected.

Anyway, as requested, I just reinstalled Firefox Nightly ASan and it seems to be working now... I am also using Windows 11 22H2 build 22621.2428.
