RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1805700

Details

Steps to reproduce:

Description:
One day Firefox for Android stopped seeing the other two linked desktop Firefox instances. Overall, sync was still working and if I send tabs from linked desktop Firefox, Firefox for Android would receive them just fine. However, if I wanted to share a tab from Firefox for Android to any other linked device, it was not possible. No linked devices were visible in the share sheet. There was only a plus button to add new device. I checked for any clues on Firefox Account page but there was nothing out of ordinary. I tried logging out from Firefox Account on Firefox for Android and logging in again but that didn't resolve the issue. Neither did wiping application cache. Eventually, I logged out from Firefox Account on Firefox for Android, then wiped application data, and then logged in again. After that last step linked devices were again visible in my share sheet and I could send tabs to desktop Firefox instances.
I first noticed the issue one day after I received update to version 109 from the Play Store. I cannot say with certainty that the issue was caused by the update. It's possible that just by coincidence I first noticed it at that time.

Steps to reproduce:
Firefox for Android is already logged into Firefox Account. Account has a desktop Firefox linked too (v108.0.1). Only bookmark sync on both devices is enabled.

  1. Open a website on Firefox for Android
  2. Tap menu button
  3. Tap share button
  4. After the previous step share sheet becomes visible

Device info:
Firefox for Android 109.1.0 (Build #2015926579), 7d00fc7f1+
AC: 109.1.0, 5294c37a47
GV: 109.0-20230109161414
AS: 96.1.3
Samsung Galaxy A32 SM-A325F/DS
Android 13

Actual results:

No linked devices are visible in share sheet. Only plus button is visible in linked devices section.

Expected results:

I should see linked devices in share sheet and be able to share browser tab with them.

Seeing a similar issue with the F-Droid "Fennec" build. My sync account has several linked devices, though many of them are inactive. In my case, Fennec only shows a single linked device: a macOS install which I only occasionally use and is shut down the rest of the time. This is despite my desktop Linux install (Firefox 109 Fedora package) being online simultaneously; the Linux browser can view the current synced tabs of the Android browser, while the Android browser only shows the macOS browser in the synced tabs section (and as a share target).

I only noticed the issue yesterday (1/23 on the US west coast), but given that Fennec updated on F-Droid 5 days ago (from 108.1.1 published on 12/24), I am confident in assessing this bug as a regression. I have not yet tried workarounds like logging out or clearing app data. (I can use KDE Connect as a substitute in the meantime, although it has problems sending more than one link at once...)

Hello!

Thank you for filing and posting here! This is a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1805700, a server fix for that bug was rolled out yesterday but the bug is still open until we can confirm it's fixed. You may need to launch the missing device at least once before it shows up.

Please post there if the bug is still persistent! Thanks!
