Details
From github: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/21819.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Gmail
- Open an email
- Click on a link. It should open in Firefox custom tab for this to happen.
- Select one word in the page
- Search
- Go back twice (it should be once only, BTW, but that's not the bug here)
Expected behaviour
Back in the custom tab, everything works.
Actual behaviour
Custom tab is empty and useless. Going to main Firefox, also. See:

Hi folks. I opened this issue in October 2021. It has perfect reproducibility steps. It even has a clear video of the issue. 5 months ago, when it was moved to Bugzilla, it wasn't yet triaged. However, many other users confirmed the issue. I reproduce it consistently in 3 different devices.
This issue is probably the worst issue of Firefox for Android. When it happens, it's the equivalent to a BSOD. The STR given are like that because it's a way to get to the bug with 100% accuracy, but in reality, you can get to the BSOD in many random ways. If you use your phone for browsing often, and Firefox is your default browser, it's almost impossible to not be hitting this bug at least once per week.
I've been a Firefox fan since the times of IE6. However, every time I try again to use it as a default browser, the extreme severity and frequency of this single issue makes me go back to another browser.
Still, after asking for somebody to give some attention to it, 5 months ago, silence...
Then, a Bot tells someone that this should have a severity, as stated in the policy. Well, as said it's probably the most severe problem in this app since 2 years ago. Still, silence... The issue has not been yet even triaged. Not on GitHub, nor on Jira, nor on Bugzilla.
I'm not angry. I'm just sad. I guess that at some point in a dystopic future, Firefox for Android will be closed. I imagine that it keeps losing more and more market share. You'll think it's for its speed, sync, usability, design, or whatever. You won't be able to find why people use other browsers, and eventually close the project. And when that happens, this issue will be closed too by a Bot. Still nobody will ever read it. Not even the Bot. Nobody will ever know that this little issue that went below the carpet for years is the reason why this project was doomed for oblivion. Sad, really sad. 😔

Duping this on the one I filed even though this one is older, because the other one has a few more details.
