RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1807977

Details

Steps to reproduce:

Right now it is necessary to install org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full manually in flatpak, in order to get HW-Accellerated video playback.
Without it, there is no smooth video playback on many systems.
While it is trivial to run flatpak install org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full, it comes at a cost:

  1. Users need to know of this trick
  2. Everytime the freedesktop platform is updated, the VAAPI support breaks again, as it is necessary to install the respective ffmpeg release again.

Actual results:

org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full not installed

Expected results:

org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full installed

Moving this issue to Core > Graphics since its related to Hardware Acceleration on Flatpack builds, if its not the correct component hopefully one of our devs can move it to a more suitable component.

It seems that other people are experiencing this issue as well.
