Over the last week, I've had to install Firefox on a few computers on different networks.
- 2 different physical machines with Win 10
- 2x Win 11 virtual machine
Different networks. Same results. All were Firefox Release.
Each time, the stub installer failed on the first attempt. On my virtual machine, it worked on the second attempt. On the physical machines, I needed to use the full installer.
Steps to reproduce:
- Download and run stub installer from Mozilla.org
- After getting the error "Hmm. FOr some reason, we could not install Firefox. Choose OK to start over."
- Download full installer from website.
- Result: Success
Options 2:
- Instead of downloading the full installer, try the stub installer a second time.
- Result: Success
Expected Results
- Installation works with the stub installer on the first attempt.
With the virtual machine installs, I was doing a screen share with Najla (CC'd) to replicate in front of someone.

Note that I can probably replicate it again on the Win11 virtual machine if someone wants to jump on a call.

Huh, interesting. Could you link to the Win 11 VM you were using, so that we can try to repro locally?

Nick, was there anything else you needed from me? I know we briefly chatted which is why I didn't come back here.
Per our discussion, I was using a Parallels image on an M1 Mac.

Unless we can determine that this is a common issue, I'm going to call this an S3.
