I've been seeing a lot of good ideas about spam filtering in Bug 71413, which
has been marked WONTFIX because of the new bayesian spam filtering mechanism.

May I suggest that a concept that might be useful here is the idea of
"registering" an email with a filter.  I would like to see the situation where I
could rightclick an email, click on "Register with filter...", and then choose a
filter.

Registering an email with the "Block sender" filter would add the email's sender
address to the list of email addresses blocked with that filter, thus providing
the functionality of the "block sender" button that was requested so many times
in bug 71413.  Registering an email with the "Block domain" filter would add the
email sender's domain to the list of domains blocked by that filter.  And so on.
 If the bayesian spam filter was implemented as just another filter type, not
even restricted to spam, then I could set up a filter called "Bayesian Spam
Filter", and registration of an email to that particular filter would be akin to
pressing the "this is spam" button.

If we had a system like this, then most of the spam filtering features discussed
above would be reduced to filter RFEs e.g. ability to filter on domain name.

Confirming as valid RFE, although I doubt it'd ever be implemented, and it might
just be a WONTFIX. (There's something like too much of a good thing.)

sorry for the spam.  making bugzilla reflect reality as I'm not working on these bugs.  filter on FOOBARCHEESE to remove these in bulk.

this is blacklist/kill, which is bug 10097, which are both more or less a subset of bug 169256
