When starting Phoenix via a shortcut on the OS Quick Launch Toolbar by
double-clicking (wrong behavior), multiple instances of window are opened and
then freeze up the system.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a shortcut to Phoenix.exe
2. Place shortcut on the Win98 Quick Launch Toolbar
3. Double click the icon

Actual Results:  
Many small windows are opened and continually open.  System response grinds to a
halt

Expected Results:  
A single phoenix browswer should open - program should correct bad user
behavior.  Worse case, two separate browser windows should open.

Michael, please download a current nightly build, make a clean install as
recommended in the release notes and test, if this behaviour occurs there also.

Have you installed any extensions or  additional themes?

I can confirm this using the latest nightly and a clean profile.

However, I'm not sure if this is a Mozilla bug or a Phoenix specific bug. I
could not reproduce the problem with the latest Mozilla nightly though.

A slight correction: I don't get the reporter's "actual results". When I click
twice on the shortcut, an error message is displayed: 

"Error launching browser window:no XBL binding for browser"

After clicking on OK on that dialog, one Phoenix window appears. Note that you
have to click twice very quickly to see the error message. My actual results is
definitely not a critical bug.

I still don't see that under W2K with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.0; en-US;
rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021128 Phoenix/0.4

Even if I very hard to double-click very quickly on the Phoenix Quick Launch
Icon I only open lots of new windows. Recommend WFM.

Is this the same as clicking 4 times on a desktop shortcut in a similarly short
period of time? If it is the failed attempt to start 2 instances at almost the
same time then I think it's an older Mozilla bug.

I would be very surprised if this was NOT also a Mozilla bug, but I still
haven't been able to reproduce it in Mozilla.

Asa, do you know the bug # for the old Mozilla bug?

Phoenix-specific bug.
