Details

Found in

  • Firefox 111.0.1

Affected versions

  • Firefox 102.9.0esr
  • Firefox 111.0.1
  • Firefox 112.0b5
  • Nightly 113.0a1

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: Windows 10

Preconditions

  • 2 computers needed - one must be a Windows 10 Desktop machine with an external webcam that has an integrated microphone and double 3.5mm jack plugs/or USB.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Log into Facebook on two different computers (headsets are plugged in).
  2. Start a call between the 2 computers.
  3. Unplug the headsets on the Windows 10 machine.
  4. Plugin the headsets back into the Windows 10 machine.

Expected result

  • In step 3 - the webcam's microphone should be used after unplugging the headset.
  • In step 4 - the headset's microphone should be used after being plugged in.

Actual result

  • The webcam's microphone is picked up after unplugging but the switch to the headset's microphone is not happening after plugging it back.

Regression range

  • Not a recent regression as I could reproduce it also on Firefox 102.9.0esr - I'll investigate more when time allows.

Additional notes

  • I could not reproduce this on Windows 10 on a Lenovo laptop - the microphone was picked up from the TRRS headset after being re-plugged.
  • This issue is not reproducing on Chrome.
Summary: The headset's microphone is not enabled after plugging it in again in Facebook calls → The headset's microphone is not enabled after re-plugging it during Facebook calls
