There should be a button in the message filter log dialog to search the log.

why not an open search entry like the download manager in firefox has?
Just for information, I wrote a Bash script that enable filtering contents. Feel free to test it, improve it and re-use the code as you want. It is sometimes updated on the server. http://www.fdn.fr/~sascoet/monalbum/scripts/afficherfiltres.bash

The log file is currently not structured into "records" so we can't hide/show items from it based on some search in a search widget as in the download manager. More likely we could include the Find bar as in the message composer.
