Rerunning the task solved the problem.
Sean, heads up in case you want to double check the schema.

For posterity, it worked when rerunning because :relud had updated the table schema.

correction, it worked on rerun because the schema was updated by the airflow job bqetl_artifact_deploy.publish_new_tables
