IMAP Mail account, working over a slowish modem link.
Flaged a group of 79 messages, picked Offline-> Get flagged messages.
79 get downloaded, Mozilla switched to Offline mode, but 43
messages are not available in offline mode. Switched online again,
get flagged, 42 get downloaded, offline, again the same messages are not
available. No matter what, through this procedure those messages where not
cached. Running a full "sync now" finally got them. This is extremly useless in
modem situations.
See Also: Bug 46233
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a huge mailfolder, pick a lot of messages, go offline, and not all that
got downloaded will be available through the cache.
Actual Results:
messages where not cached
Expected Results:
cache _everything_ ever downloaded.

Bug 181842 is not related at all - I assume this bug is about caching for
offline use - that bug is about the use of the memory cache.
I tried this and it worked fine. You might try downloading a more recent build
and trying that. Or, you could try to give me a clue what's different about the
messages that weren't downloaded. Are they big, (e.g., > 50K), or do they have
attachments? Or is it just random? If you sort by order of arrival (which will
basically sort by the order of the messages on the server), is there any sort of
pattern as to which messages were downloaded and which weren't?

I think it is related to bug 181842.
While for Netscape 7.0/7.01/7.02 or Mozilla 1.2.1/1.3, the large mail
attachment is still a headache.
Once you set the offline option, it works well as long as you maintain the same
session and the attachment is still not that big (e.g. 1~3MB).
Once it is large enough (say more than 4 MB), even if you set the offline
option, the attachment is not cached, it will be downloaded whenever you access
this very message, and download again when you want to save it locally.
To make it worse, when you restart netscape/mozilla, all the emails/attachments
have to be downloaded again and again.

actually, I think this was fixed a while ago. Please try a newer build (newer
than 1.1)
