[Affected versions]:

  • Beta 114.0b2 (Build ID: 20230509180058)
  • Nightly 115.0a1 (Build ID: 20230509215006)
  • Release 113 (Build ID: 20230504192738)

[Affected Platforms]:

  • Mac 12.3.1
  • Windows 10 x64
  • Linux Mint 20

[Prerequisites]:

  1. Have a new profile with the following prefs set:
    browser.search.region to US
    browser.urlbar.quicksuggest.dataCollection.enabled to true
    browser.urlbar.merino.providers to adm,top_picks
    browser.urlbar.bestMatch.enabled to true
  2. Set the system's theme to light theme.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the Beta browser with the profile from the prerequisites.
  2. Type "hilton" in the awesome bar.
  3. Observe the Top Pick's favicon.

[Expected result]:

  • The favicon is visible on the light theme.

[Actual result]:

  • The favicon isn't visible on the light theme.

[Notes]:

  • Favicon is also hardly visible on Alpenglow theme for a "github" word.
  • Attached is a screen recording of the issue.
  • Not sure if there are any other topic's results with the same issue.

This is still a problem, for example "hilton" as in the video. Abhishek, any ideas? Or is there someone we should talk to?
