User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 when starting mailnews, Mozilla eats up mem + CPU. I just waited a bit to see if it would continue to start up, but then had to kill it when it had 100 MB RAM allocated. *one time* I was able to read emails with this fresh installation of 1.2.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.n/a 2. 3.
hmmm, now it's working after my n-th try. It took 120 MB RAM, but then started and released the memory, leaving itself 18 MB RAM. Perhaps this has to do with the effect I see in 1.2.1 first? Every time a browser windows is closed, my harddisk gets very busy for about one second.

Reporter, have you tried using a fresh build in the mean time? ;) If you still encounter some problem then reopen that bug
