User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/113.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a PDF (e.g. 2 Page PDF.pdf).
  2. Scroll to the second page. The first page should not be visible.
  3. Press CTRL+P.
  4. Click on the Pages drop-down menu and select "Current". I reproduced the problem with "Save to PDF" and a physical Brother printer.

Actual results:

The print out and preview say "Page one".

Expected results:

The preview window should show "Page two". Clicking the Print button or Save button should result in a printout that says "Page two".

I've reproduced the problem in Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS.

Windows 10 Details:

Ubuntu 20 LTS Details:

  • Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
  • Firefox 112.0.2 (64-bit)
  • Virtualbox virtual machine running on a Windows 10 host

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Printing: Output' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Ok, this is a bit of a confusing UI. The way "Current" works is "The current page open in the print preview". This is necessarily the way it has to work for regular websites, but for PDF printing I agree it's a bit unintuitive.

This works for me if I change the STR to be:

  • Open a PDF (e.g. 2 Page PDF.pdf).
  • Press CTRL+P.
  • Scroll the print preview to the second page. The first page should not be visible.
  • Click on the Pages drop-down menu and select "Current".

So I think this is just confusing UI, not quite a bug.

Summary: Firefox prints the first page of a PDF instead of the current page. → Firefox prints the first page of a PDF instead of the current page (confusing UI when selecting current page on a PDF?).

I agree with everything you said.

After I flipped to the second page inside the Print Preview window and selected "Current", the correct page was printed.
