Symptoms:

  • Users see an error message claiming that their browser is unsupported
  • Connecting to some kind of hardware fails

Additional comment from the Customer Experience team:

This API also corresponds with the Crypto Ledger issue we've been seeing since Firefox 114: https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues/18566#issuecomment-1544322674. Some of the inquiries we received:

WebHID is also used heavily by VIA (project), which can easily be tested via their "flashing" website and they also leverage WebHID. Many people use VIA to flash/configure their (sometimes split or ergonomic) keyboards. Just tested with Firefox version 136.0.3 and it does not work.
