User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/114.0

Steps to reproduce:

Navigate to various pages within a tab.
Click and hold the BACK button to bring up a list of past pages visited.
Select a page further back than the last one.

Actual results:

I was taken to a different page than the one I selected, and the one I selected was removed from the BACK list.

Expected results:

I expected to be taken to the page I selected, and not lose that page from the BACK history list.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Layout: Form Controls' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi - thanks for filing. Right now, I can't seem to reproduce this on Windows & Linux. Could you elaborate on the behaviour you're seeing?

  • Does it happen with specific websites?
  • Does it happen with a fresh profile?

(Also, Form Controls is definitely not the right place - For now, Toolbars seems the most correct)

Waiting for steps to reproduce or more detail from the reporter before setting priority / severity.

Hi,

To answer your questions:

  1. Does it happen with specific websites? - No. It happens across any websites I've visited.
  2. Does it happen with a fresh profile? No. After creating a new profile, it works as expected.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue with firefox 118.0a1(2023-08-17) on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22.04, unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my end. Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this isssue.

  1. Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
  2. Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
  3. Do you have any addons installed? If yes could you please list them?

Hi,

I'm using macOS so I don't know whether this is a bug on Windows or Ubuntu. I guess it's good that you couldn't find it on either of those platforms.

  1. I mentioned earlier that this issues did not happen when I created a new profile.
  2. No, I use the FF Dev edition (aurora channel) version of the browser.
  3. The add-ons I had installed and active at the time of the report were included in the Prefs file. Here's part of that:
