I believe :nth-child(... of) invalidation can break this assert because of this, which is used as the cache key. If we match both the element and the snapshot with the same selector, the element matches and the snapshot match, but a previous sibling matches (or the snapshot doesn't) it can change the effective index, I believe...

Zach, do you have cycles to look at this? I believe it should be possible to reproduce with a selector like the one introduced in bug 1837174 and various mutations in the sibling list.

I'll look at this. At a glance, this looks similar to the issue I was originally running into when stylo itself performed :nth-child(... of) sibling invalidation (which caused caused that same assertion failure because the nth-index, while cached, was different in the snapshot).

If that's all it is, we could pull bug 1818151's original solution for this, using a separate nth-index cache key for element snapshots.

Here is a reduced crashtest. Unlike running browser/components/extensions/test/browser/browser_ext_tabs_hide.js, opening the crashtest also produces the assertion failure on Linux, not only macOS and Windows.

Also, restyle the child passed to RestyleSiblings, since stylo no longer
necessarily invalidates elements with HAS_SLOW_SELECTOR or
HAS_SLOW_SELECTOR_LATER_SIBLINGS.
