User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/114.0

Steps to reproduce:

In kcmshell5 kcm_sddm, choosing to reinitialize windows open at previous logout at login time causes Firefox Nightly (snap install firefox --channel=latest/edge) to be initialized without any of its windows.

Actual results:

If I quit (or close, via the WM) Firefox and then reopen it, it loads correctly with my tabs.

Expected results:

It should load on boot with my tabs.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

It's unclear to us (Session Restore triage folks) what this means from the perspective of Session Restore. It sounds like a case where we should set the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to restore the session on the next startup independently from our own "Open previous windows and tabs" setting, perhaps? Gonna move this to Widget: Gtk for now to hopefully figure out if there's some communication with the system missing on that layer.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue with firefox 118.0a1(2023-08-17) on Ubuntu 22.04, unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my end. Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this isssue.

  1. Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
  2. Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
  3. Do you have any addons installed? If yes could you please list them?

snegritas@mozilla.com,

  1. The machine where this presented itself doesn't exist anymore.
  2. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1852554#c31 might provide some of the answers you're looking for. I realize it's a lot to read, but I think I have reason to believe that this bug might merely be an expression of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1852554#c0.
  3. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/collections/15269329/RSUBMQ/ should state most of them, although it might also include a few I don't use. See the attached file though. They should be almost identical to when this was reported.
