Steps to reproduce:

switched tab view to grid

Actual results:

In case it matters, I have hundreds of tabs (2 weeks old ones get marked as inactive)
opening tab view it often/most of the time opens at the top instead of where my open tab is. this lead to clutter. I barely bother to close tabs anymore since it requires scrolling constantly...

Expected results:

I just realized the regular list view doesn't have this bug. it always opens where my tab us (often at the bottom of the list)
so that's my workaround for now. I would still like to get a working grid view again :)

urgh. me fiddling with stuff somehow deleted all inactive tabs 😅 (I haven't pressed the bin icon)
maybe the file got corrupted somehow. I wish it were possible to export the tabs but it's not.
tabview got really slow once I opened the inactive list and eventually I experienced constant "Firefox doesn't respond messages" even though the gui felt responsive. only while scrolling through that list in tabview it was actually lagging but not on webpages or after closing the inactive list. still it showed unresponsive messages until I let it close Firefox. and now the list is gone ^^
oh well I'm taking with humor.

anyways maybe list view was actually affected by the issue I reported here.
this issue might be related to the loading time of the list and you only experience it if you have 1000+ tabs like me. (~2300)

Overall Firefox really could perform a bit better even with that many tabs imo. but I get that it takes someone willing to work on improving on that.
I have a Pixel 7 pro with 12gb of ram so resources should be no issues unless Android limits the amount of ram Firefox (one App) is allowed to use on it's own.

I actually experienced atleast two OOMs in the last couple of days according to the list of crashes. which seems absurd unless Firefox doesn't use more than 4gb or something

i hope anyone else can reproduce the basic issue I reported here:
opening tabview and it opens at the top of the tab list instead of down where my current tab is.

:Djfe, if Bug 1824581 captures what you're reporting here, I'll go ahead and close this ticket as a duplicate. If there are any bugs separate from the main issue of opening the Tabs Tray and it scrolling to the wrong tab, please file a different ticket for those (if there isn't something already filed).
