Steps to reproduce:
I disabled the titlebar years ago. I updated Firefox from 111.0.1 to 114.0.1 on June 18, 2023. I then launched Firefox.
Actual results:
There are now no min, max and close buttons at the right end of the menubar (now the top toolbar). I changed the value of the preference in about:config back to 1 (as it was previously) and still there are none of the buttons mentioned. browser.tabs.inTitlebar
Expected results:
I expected the buttons to reappear when I changed the preference from 2 to 1.

Do you know where does that gtk3 theme come from? I only see https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1015148 but that's gtk2 only. Also, do you have a ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini file or similar? If so, what is your gtk-decoration-layout config?
Yes, I have that file. It contains these lines.

What gtk version are you using? I can't repro it by just installing that theme. Presumably you need a gtk version old enough for theming engines to work and the solidity engine installed?
Can you attach a screenshot of gedit? Does it show the same issue?

KDE no longer records gtk themes. I don't know the version number but it was installed in 2019. Removing it made no difference to the window controls in Firefox. I took a screenshot but there is no material difference from the screenshot attached previously.
I don't have gedit installed. I do have geany (version 1.35) but have no reason to remove the title bar in geany and it has no preference such as that in Firefox so I would not expect to see window controls if I removed the title bar. According to searchfox, the Firefox preference works "everywhere except Linux".

I wasn't asking for the gtk theme version, I was asking for the GTK version. I'm just trying to reproduce your environment as closely as possible :)

Can you install it temporarily?

That is not true, it works on Linux as well. We expose it via the customize toolbar screen, you should see a checkbox there.

The gtk+3.0 version is 3.24.38-1.

Ideally, yes. How do you get gedit to use SSD?

I'm not sure I understand your question "How do you get gedit to use SSD?". I installed gedit using the OS package manager.
Obviously, I don't want to use the title bar in Firefox. That's why I have hidden it. The 'preference' to which I referred was that mentioned initially, i.e. browser.tabs.inTitlebar. That's the preference which no longer works (in Linux only, it seems).

I mean, how do you get it to render the system title bar. By default Gedit uses CSD (client-side decorations, like Firefox). Gedit without system titlebar also doesn't show close buttons, which to me it seems like you have some sort of system hack to make gtk3 apps not use client-side decorations, and that is confusing Firefox.
Do you have gtk3-nocsd by any chance? See bug 1827137. What's the output of:

Yes, gtk3-nocsd was installed during some update a few years ago.
I ran that command as follows. I have removed my user name.

Right, so you're saying with GTK_CSD=0 and gtk3-nocsd that you want the system titlebar, so the buttons are hidden. This is not a bug in Firefox, I'd just remove gtk3-nocsd or launch firefox without GTK_CSD=0.
