@kershaw can reproduce easily; it will not reproduce if we disable the cache in devtools.

Alex, do you need to use a sequence similar to Alice's to reproduce this? Does it still occur if you disable the cache via DevTools? Thanks!

I suspect this is a race in the gmail/calendar pane code, where the order that loads finish in causes a failure somewhere in their code.
this would explain the cache impact, and it would also likely explain why regression-window chose Junior's patch, which could alter the order loads finish in I think

Hi! I reproduce it consistently without needing to close it. I just open the page, click the calendar icon and it breaks.

I tried with the Devtools open and the Disabled Cache enabled and it does work again. However it breaks as soon as I try again with the Devtools closed.

Thanks for looking into this! This bug itself is a big reason for me (and I know for other coworkers) to move to another browser, which I don't want to because I love Firefox :)

Google pushed out a fix; they're still seeing some failures in the field, but it appears some people still fail. The one person I could talk to who still failed was fixed after clearing site data for gmail, so again that's something wrong with their site. They're planning another fix in the next few days.

The base problem is definitely their code not handling resources loading in a different order than they "expected"
