User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 A 2000-message Inbox takes about 7 seconds to compact under Mozilla 1.1, but over a minute for the same operation under Mozilla 1.2.1. I can hear the hard drive screaming during the process with 1.2.1, but it is silent with 1.1. And the summary files seem to be corrupted afterward; I had to copy the Inbox and Inbox.msf files over to new files, delete the orginals and rename the copies back to the original names in order to fix the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run Mozilla 1.2.1 Mail client 2.Dlete some messages from the Inbox. 3.Click on Empty Trash, then Compact Folders. 4. Watch slow progress bar for Inbox, listen to hard drive thrashing. Actual Results: Compact Files took about ten times longer than normal. Hard drive made lots of noise. Mozilla hung and I had to xkill it. Expected Results: Compact Files should take about 7 seconds, with no hard drive noise and no hang.
yes, upgrade to a 1.3a build - this has been fixed. dup of bug 182263 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 182263 ***
