See https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D181434#6009922 and the linked bug/thread, we should be able to build pipewire on BSD and decide whether to use it at runtime, like on linux.

That makes sense, thanks. Since that was filed upstream has evolved with a camera backend, but they're behind the same flag so should be handled in the same bug.
