User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/116.0

Steps to reproduce:

Open Firefox with saved/restored tabs or a link in a new tab (right click and open in tab)

Actual results:

There is a popup for a split second (literally a frame or 2). The one I captured is a "translate" menu

Expected results:

No misc popups.

This happens in Fluxbox and Openbox. Started happening today. Can try to find commit later

:gregtatum, since you are the author of the regressor, bug 1838665, could you take a look? Also, could you set the severity field?

Flags: needinfo?(gtatum)

The bug has a release status flag that shows some version of Firefox is affected, thus it will be considered confirmed.

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Component: Widget: Gtk → Translation

I think this will be resolved by Bug 1841341.

Sweet, thanks!

The product::component has been changed since the backlog priority was decided, so we're resetting it.

Priority: P3 → --

The popup appears briefly for me when visiting a new site, even when the site is in English, translations are not available and hardware is not supported (about:translations reports device does not meet minimum requirements).

Translation isn't available for this page
Sorry, we don't support this language yet.

The speed of the popup flash, often not showing any text at all, can make it seem like a more serious graphical glitch associated with driver bugs or hardware failure.

Can be avoided by changing browser.translations.automaticallyPopup = false.

Could you verify this is fixed in the latest Nightly?

Flags: needinfo?(zlice555)

Still happening

Flags: needinfo?(zlice555)

Did you test with the very latest build? about:buildconfig should show Built from https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/e4d87ff75575880ea0c0fa09b316e360e4d9492f

Yes, it still happens on startup, there's a quick flash then it goes away. I have browser.translations.automaticallyPopup set to true

KDE Wayland, Debian Testing
Still seeing the translation box sometimes when switching tabs which then quickly disappears.

The translations popup shortly appears in the bottom right corner.

Can those affected by this let me know if it's still happening. I found a reason errant popups were happening in Bug 1846828 and fixed it. Make sure to be on the latest Nightly. There is an uplift that is making its way to Beta as well.

Ok, let's dupe, I don't see it either and I filed a similar one.
