We need to be able to identify clients with sponsored tiles disabled to count home screen views where sponsored tiles should have been displayed. To accomplish this, we need a metric that records the SponsoredShortcuts pref.
Hypothesis
What questions will you answer with this data?
What percent of eligible sponsored tiles slots are actually filled with tiles?
Why does Mozilla need to answer these questions? Are there benefits for users? Do we need this information to address product or business requirements?
This will be used to calculate sponsored tile fill rate, which is a metric included as a contractual obligation with our ads partners.
I have a PR ready with this change, I just wanted to confirm that tacking if the user has sponsored shortcuts enabled or not is enough to answer the question "What percent of eligible sponsored tiles slots are actually filled with tiles?"?
Ah, I also responded on the PR. Yes, we just need the ability to filter out clients that have sponsored tiles disabled to get to that percent
