Hi Gabi.

We're having trouble recreating this one. Can you provide more details on operating system and what zoom level?

Thanks!

Hi Gabi.

Hello, here are the steps to reproduce:

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have some items in the Firefox View Next History page
  2. Zoom in the page at about 130-150%
  3. Click Sort by Site option
  4. Open the history menu for an item (easier to reproduce if the menu overlaps the next item from the list)
  5. Observe the menu

Affected versions

  • Nightly 117.0a1(20230726154100)

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10 x64, macOS 13 and Ubuntu 18.4

I've added a gif recording of the issue.

This is an issue with the panel-list component so we'll need to address it there.

I'm not able to reproduce this on mac with either system (light) theme or fx light them. Gabi, what theme did you have enabled with you observed this?

Hi Sarah, the issue reproduces regardless of the theme used and on macOS 13 also. I've attached a recording of the issue along with a macOS screenshot.
It helps if the window size and zoom is changed while the menu is clicked.

So far several people have tried to repro this, no-one's been able to reproduce this on windows or Mac.

Gabi, when you can reproduce it, could you right-click on the menu with the issue, and select "inspect". From there, you should be able to select the panel-list and inspect its CSS.

It would be interesting to know if the var used for background-color is unset/invalid for some reason. If I disable background-color or rename the var I see a similar result to your screenshot. See the attached screenshot in the next comment for what this looks like in the inspector. You can also temporarily unset the display: none to reveal the panel-list.

This might not be much help if it's so difficult to have the issue appear and inspect it at the same time, but worth a shot in any case.

Also cc'ing :mstriemer for any additional thoughts on how we might debug this.

I was not able to reproduce the issue anymore on the latest Firefox Nightly 119.0a1.
I've been able to see the issue in Firefox 117.0a1 on the build that the issues was logged in.
I'm attaching two screenshots for comparison (117 and 119) with the History menu CSS elements. I can mark the bug as WORKSFORME since it can't be reproduces in the latest Nightly.
