Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 13; Mobile; rv:109.0) Gecko/115.0 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

I left clicked on the extension button on my tab

Actual results:

It opens up a tab that goes ti the addons

Expected results:

A drop down window should have opened up that show me all of the extensions that I currently have downloaded.

Also, when I opened up firefox today, I noticed that my downloaded extensions are no longer next to my URL. I did check to make sure that they are still downloaded, and they are.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Untriaged' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello,

Do you have permanent private browsing mode enabled by any chance?

Extensions do not have access to private browsing by default and if permanent private browsing mode is activated, clicking the extensions button will not open the extensions panel but instead open the Addons Manager page.
The extensions are still installed but they don’t show on the toolbar or in the extensions panel due to them not having access to private browsing.

Either grant the extensions access to private browsing OR disable permanent private browsing mode.

To grant the extensions access to private browsing:

  • Access the Addons Manager page (keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A), click on “Extensions” on the left side and then click on each extension in turn to access the extensions detail pages
  • There, identify the “Run in Private Windows” section and click on “Allow”

The extensions should now show up both on the toolbar or in the extensions panel opened by clicking the extensions button.

To disable permanent private browsing mode:

  • Access about:preferences#privacy (paste this in the address bar and hit Enter to access the browser settings page) and scroll down to the “History” section
  • From the “Firefox will” dropdown menu, select “Remember history” and when prompted, restart the browser

Now that permanent private browsing mode has been disabled, the extensions should now show up both on the toolbar or in the extensions panel opened by clicking the extensions button.
Note that if you disable private browsing mode, there will be no need to also grant the extensions access to private browsing.

Try any of the above and let me know if the issue persists. Thank you !
