Steps to reproduce:
- Install the "Firefox Multi-Account Containers" extension.
- Open a new tab in the "Personal" container by:
(i) click-and-hold on the [+] new tab button
(ii) move down to the "Personal" menu item
(iii) release the mouse button
Actual results:
- A new tab (no container) is created; as well as
- A new tab (personal container) is created.
Expected results:
- A new tab (personal container) is created.
This bug is not present in the current general release (116.0).
This bug is present in the current "Developer" release (117.0b2) and Nightly (118.0a1).
Note: This behaviour is not seen if you use the mouse a little differently:
(i) click-and-hold on the [+] new tab button. The container menu appears.
(ii) release the mouse button. The container menu stays.
(iii) move down to the "Personal" menu item
(iv) click the mouse button

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]: Opening container tab produce two tabs.
I can reproduce this issue on Nightly118.0a1 Windows10 w/ new profile(w/o addon)

Thanks Alice for moving this issue back into the right bugzilla component!
The same bug seems to be also reported as Bug 1846714, the screencast included seems to be the same one described in STR provided in comment 0 and the regressing range point to the same regressing bug.
I think we may close one of these two (Bug 1846754 and Bug 1846714) as a duplicate of the other one.
