Operating system: Windows 10
Firefox version: Nightly 118.0a1 (2023-08-05)
Preconditions: must be logged in
Steps to reproduce:
- Go to https://pinterest.com
- Tap on the drop down icon located in the header.
- Observe the text in the drop down menu.
Expected Behaviour:
Thinner font displayed on the page.
Actual Behaviour:
The font displayed is bolder.
Notes:
- Screenshot provided
- Reproducible on Firefox Release as well
- Not reproducible on Chrome
- The bolder text can be observed on multiple pages but it was more noticeable in the drop down menu
- Issue found during WebCompat team [Top100] websites testing

The difference in the screenshot seem pretty subtle to me; I think the main difference is that in the drop-down menu, Chrome is using subpixel antialiasing, whereas in Firefox it's grayscale-only. Not sure whether that's really a bug, or just a difference in how the rendering pipelines end up handling things. Interestingly, in the page behind the drop-down, the situation is the opposite: Firefox has subpixel AA, while Chrome has grayscale!

Verified this issue and it's still reproducible on Firefox versions 122 and 124.
