Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/116.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create an external calendar file.
  2. Save the calendar file as /tmp/meeting.ics (or other suitably named file).
  3. Start Thunderbird.
  4. Open the calendar file from within Thunderbird.
  5. Edit the calendar event.
  6. Add two alerts (not really relevant).
  7. Save the calendar event.
  8. Stop Thunderbird.
  9. Delete the calendar file.
  10. Start Thunderbird.

Actual results:

Event has disappeared from the calendar.

Expected results:

Event persists in the calendar.

After loading the calendar file into Thunderbird, I'd have expected a copy to have been made so that I can clean up the calendar files from my system without having to worry about losing an event. That is, never lose user data input into Thunderbird.
