Have you clicked "Cancel" when the dialog (Open in apps) shows ? (maybe accidentally or intentionally)
If so , fenix caches the cancel operation and the dialog will not show for clicking any "tel:" link in the following 1 hour .
You could "Force stop" fenix (in "App Info") to reset the cache (Note: remove it from recent screen not work).
I cleared the cache but same problem. on another device with a fresh install same bug.

Thank you for the report!
I managed to force this behavior with the following steps:
- Open https://daleharvey.github.io/testapp/, and scroll all the way down to the "Telephone link" hyperlinked text.
- Tap on it.
- When the prompt asks if I accept "Open in another app?", I tapped "Cancel".
- Tapped again on the "Telephone link" hyperlinked text.
- The prompt was displayed again.
- Canceled again.
- Tapped again on the "Telephone link" hyperlinked text. --> Nothing happens anymore. This feature is not working on this point on other sites either.
Go to Settings - Advanced - Open links in apps - set it to "Always", and restart Fenix, then after step 2, I was redirected to the phone app.
Can you provide us some more details:
- what device did you encounter this issue on?
- what were the exact steps to reproduce?
I changed the advance seeting "open links in apps" on always and restarted firefox but it 's not works at all.
My device is a samsung galaxy a33 5g with android 13

Solution
Settings -advanced -open links in apps : always.
Close firefox and reboot your phone.
If the phone is not rebooted it doesn't work.
