Steps to reproduce

  1. Search for something that doesn't return a lot of results in your history (for example "paris meteo" because presumably you haven't visited a lot of websites about that)
  2. Do the "scroll down" gesture so that the keyboard is hidden but we don't navigate to a result (don't use the "hide keyboard" Android button, see Bug 1852501 about that)
  3. Tap the empty space below the results. (this also happens if we do a scroll gesture starting in the empty space).

Expected behavior

Nothing happens.

Actual behavior

Everything disappears (including the words entered in the address bar) and we're back to the home page.

Device information

  • Firefox version: Nightly 119 (build 2015973283)
  • Android device model: Samsung S10e
  • Android OS version: 12

Any additional information?

Tapping in the empty space is something I do without thinking to avoid that the screen is locked. Therefore it's extremely annoying that everything disappears at that moment.

As far as I know this behavior exists for a long time.
