User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020826 Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2.1/mozilla-win32-1.2.1-installer.exe I've been running 1.2.1 for over a week without problem. This morning I've been experiencing catastrophic failures. It started when I was writing an email message to myself - nothing fancy, just a little text and an attached image from a web site. When I pressed Ctrl-Enter to send the message it seemed to take a long time. I realized after a bit the browser was frozen. I right-mouse-clicked on the app tab in the Start menu bar to Close the app. I got the menu but when I clicked Close I got the "This app not responding" dialog and forced it to close Mozilla. Thinking it was just one of those things, I immediately re-started Moz, went to the same web page (incidentally here: http://news.com.com/2009-1017-976178.html?tag=fd_lede1_hed) with the quote and related chart I was e-mailing to myself. As soon as I pressed Ctrl-Enter the ap froze again. Next I rebooted my system - it had been a while. When system came back up I lauched Moz, went through the same steps and it froze yet again. Next I restarted Moz but this time brought up Preferences to clear cache. As soon as I clicked Edit, Preferences, it froze yet again. Next I decided a re-install was in order. I deleted the Moz app directory (not the App settings directory on C: though) and re-installed 1.2.1. Still got the exact same bahavior. So I dropped back to punt by installing 1.0.1. When can I get a version of Moz with separate icons for Mail and Browser that actually works? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Moz 1.2.1. on my system. 2.Launch Moz. 3.Click Edit, Preferences. 4.Watch it freeze. Actual Results: Nothing - it froze. :-) Expected Results: Umm... displayed Preferences dialog window. It doesn't crash - it freezes. No nothing else to report.
Reporter: Please close mozilla, find your Mozilla profile (it's in your OS user directory) and delete the file XUL.mfl and restart mozilla.
Actually, before deleting XUL.mfl, can you zip up a copy and email to <jrgm@netscape.com>. It helps if I can see what has gone wrong with the file. (Note: there is no personal information contained in that file (aside from the path to wherever you have installed the build)]. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 168516 ***

John Morrison: just ask the triagers if you need a xul.mfl. We will ask the reporters for this file the next time ! btw: we dupe many bugs to bug 169777

Sorry for the delay in following up on this, everybody.... I made some time this morning to experiment with 1.2.1 some more. When I re-installed it, I no longer had any of my problems. I have not touched the XUL.mfl file. I'll run 1.2.1 for a few days and see if the problems crop up again. If they do, I will follow your instructions regarding e-mailing the file to John and then blowing it away.
