Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open this comparison
  2. Type an opening bracket "(" into the textbox.
  3. Wait for half a second.

Expected results:
The textbox should turn red, indicating an unparseable regular expression. The UI should remain present.

Actual results:
The entire UI goes away and gets replaced with the error message "Something went wrong SyntaxError: unterminated parenthetical"
