1856341 - Embedded videos not playing since Firefox 118

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/118.0

Steps to reproduce:

I am using Firefox 118.0.1 on two different Win11 x64 devices.
Since updating to Firefox 118, embedded videos are not playing. Happens at youtube, facebook, X, and many other websites.

Actual results:

If a video is shown within a website, the sound starts to play, but the video does not. If I mute the sound, the video starts playing. Unmuting makes the video stop again, while the sound continues.
This happens everytime on two very different machines that are running Windows 11 x64.
The first device is a Intel NUC mini-PC, the second device is a HP laptop.

Expected results:

video should start playing with pictures and sound in sync.

Thanks for the report. Does the defect described occur when loading the following via the address bar?

If you are able to install and use mozregression, it can identify for us which change in Firefox triggered this defect.

Yes, the issue also appears when playing the linked video.
