Our new macOS attribution ability is rolling out with Firefox 120. Due to how it works (modifying DMGs in a very specific way), I have some concerns about unknown-unknows causing various issues. One way that things could go wrong is that a download via mozilla.org is not attributed as it should be, and the user ends up with dlsource=mozillaci (when it should be dlsource=mozorg, along with other attribution information).
If this scenario happens en masse, it could cause severe data pollution, making analyses more difficult. To help guard against this we should put the Telemetry reporting code behind a Nimbus flag and roll it out gradually to help suss out any issues.
