Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add bookmark to a folder
  2. Try add another bookmark on different tab.

Actual results:

Every sometimes it just defaults to Bookmark folder instead of last used folder. In my case I use a folder for each month.

(It works in Chrome like this, and desktop Firefox)

Expected results:

The bookmark folder should have stayed the same until I choose different one.

I noticed that switching happens when browsing the bookmarks.

So the last open folder in bookmarks (where you can always use X to exit) is set to be used for new bookmark.

This may be the reason why it defaults to ROOT folder.

I started having this issue today on both of my phones. I select a new bookmark location for a new bookmark, and then the next time I bookmark the location is a much older location.

It's really annoying when combined with the "slow folder expansion" bug that also isn't fixed. It takes over 20 seconds of waiting to open 2 folders. I do have a bunch of folders and bookmarks, but its 10x faster to view already saved bookmarks then to change the folder location.

I still don't know why they forced all the folders to be closed in the first place.

I am still experiencing both the "slow folder expansion" and "old bookmark location" bugs. Just tested a couple minutes ago. I saved one bookmark to a "Science" folder, but the next time I saved a bookmark it defaulted to a "Games" folder. I saved another one, and the default was still "Games". It also still took about 20 seconds to open the two folders required for each bookmark.

The folder structure goes - Desktop Bookmarks/Other Bookmarks/CoolArticles/Science. Number of bookmarks enclosed in Desktop bookmarks' subfolders is 19569.

  1. Long loading times with large bookmark collections: Bug 2009006 has not been fixed.
  2. The changes regarding the storage location will not take effect until version 151, as per Bug 2024810. Please test again using that version.

The ticket is already quite old. The issue had been occurring rarely or not at all for a while, and then suddenly became more frequent, as mentioned in comment 4. There may be various reasons for this.

I managed to reproduce once on the Firefox for Android Nightly 152.0a1 from 5/17, and on 151.0 on a Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro (Android 16).
STR:

  1. Open a page, bookmark it, tap on "Edit".
  2. Create a new folder.
  3. Quickly open a new tab, and bookmark it.
  4. Observe the bookmark folder that is displayed on the snackbar.

Unable to reproduce on a Pixel 6 (Android 17).

The statement is likely still based on a test conducted on the "MOTOROLA moto g34 5G."

(The test cannot be repeated at this time because the device needs to be sent in for repair due to a faulty USB port.)

I am using both a Samsung A23 5G and Motorola G Stylus 2025. The bug for remembering last bookmark location is fixed on both.

With bookmark folders, I have occasionally noticed that the second-to-last location is preselected.

The root directory is also occasionally preselected. However, I need to verify this again to determine whether it is the last or second-to-last location.
