User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/118.0
Steps to reproduce:
I just got the update to Thunderbird 115.3.2 64-bit Windows.
Tried to access a News Server.
Actual results:
My News Server shows only headings and no message content(completely blank).
I have some of the messages stored locally. I can see the directory and the file, the messages are in there and it's correct on the TB settings page.
Expected results:
Ought to show headings and message content.

First time I go into the account, I get a popup window that says "Connection to server ... was reset."
Error console gives this error every time I click a message header:
mailnews.nntp:
error { target: TCPSocket, isTrusted: true, name: "NetworkError", message: "Network", errorCode: 2152398868, srcElement: TCPSocket, currentTarget: TCPSocket, eventPhase: 2, bubbles: false, cancelable: false, … }

You got a NS_ERROR_NET_RESET. Check your network/firewall/antivirus. And make sure the server is actually up and running...
It looks like the server might not be running. I have contacted the administrator.
I tried to look at messages on another computer with an older version of Thunderbird (91.1.2 32-bit Windows). I have no problem reading local messages in spite of not being able to connect to the server.

Regression caused by (bug #): unclear
User impact if declined: confusing UI when network issues occur with nntp
Testing completed (on c-c, etc.): c-c
Risk to taking this patch (and alternatives if risky): safe

This doesn't seem to fix the regression? It just displays a better error message. The reporter states that prior to nntp-js locally cached NNTP messages were displayed.

IF the message is available locally (newsgroup marked for offline use) it's just shown when the server is down (just retested it).
But that already worked before the patch.
