Firefox View is added to the tab bar again even when it was disabled and the setting doesn't seem to have any effect anymore.

This pref is not meant for users to be able to turn off the feature, it's used for feature development and experimentation, and it will be removed in the future. If you don't want it in the tab bar you can right-click and remove it.

I don't think you can pre-configure Firefox not to have the button without the feature. For us it reappeared on many profiles that had it disabled because of the removed preference (which seems still to be registered in about:config but doesn't do anything now).

I don't quite understand what you're asking. If you right-click the firefox view icon you can remove access to the feature via the tab strip - the icon will be removed from there. There is no way to remove the feature entirely, it can still be accessed via a user typing "about:firefoxview" into the address bar - but if that is what you are asking for I'd question why you need that level of control.

Previously the option could be deployed using a firefox.cfg file. I don't think it is possible to distribute the state of "user has removed it by a right click" in a similar way. Any pointers to helpful resources are welcome.

I see, I don't know of a way to do that. Are you an enterprise admin? Can I ask why you want this feature removed since it provides a valuable surface for users to more easily see information that they have accessed (rather than hiding it behind various menus)? And if they don't find it valuable, they clearly don't have to use it (and can disable it themselves).

I can use enterprise policies, but as far as I understand such smaller features are better off with a preference and a firefox.cfg as enterprise policies should remain a rather small set of important settings?
I want to disable it, as it is on the tab bar looking like a pinned tab but not behaving like one and the function is not needed.
Personally I think it is a feature that would better be an addon, but that's up to Mozilla.

I'm not sure if it's worth to open an own bug, but when I click Tools->Firefox View, it does not only open the Firefox View page, but also adds the button to the toolbar again and leaves it there until it is manually removed and the next time the function is used, the button is added again and needs to be removed using the right click menu.
