User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 my POP servers is running on a solaris machine and my mozilla mail client is running on redhat linux 7.2. i have enabled the 'leave messages on server' and 'delete messages on server when they are moved or deleted' options. however, these don't work. i have tried emptying trash and then doing 'getmessages', quitting and restarting etc. without success. while searching through bugzilla i saw that there was a bug reported which looked exactly like this one -- it was on a very old version (0.9...) of mozilla however, the resolution was that it worked on redhat 6.2. as far as i can see this is still not working. sorry for the verbosity -- this is my first post to bugzilla! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.setup pop account. 2. enable 'leave messages on server' and 'delete messages on server when they are moved or deleted' options. 3. delete messages on mail client. 4. empty trash, compact folders, do get messages Actual Results: 5. check messages on server --- they still exist. Expected Results: server messages should have gotten deleted. i want to read my mail from both office and home (different mail clients) and so i need it to stay on the server.
I've noticed same problem with a Lotus Domino R5 mail server and with a unknown mailer at mail.tiscali.dk I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Best regards, Niels Kristian Jensen (nkj@internetgruppen.dk)
This is related to, and possibly a dupe of, Bug 89034 - Using filters stops messages from being deleted on the server. Reporter, do you have any filters enabled? Regardless, there are many bugs with deleting POP mail from server, and they should probably all be looked at together.
Yes, I believe that your analysis is correct: "This is related to, and possibly a dupe of, Bug #89034 - Using filters stops messages from being deleted on the server" I do use the spam / junk filters.
