User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021207 Phoenix/0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021207 Phoenix/0.5 I'm not sure if this should be happening and is not, or merely is not a part of Phoenix: If an image cannot be displayed, IE renders a red X in its place. I believe Opera and netscape also perform this task. This allows a user to rightclick -> properties or show image to attempt to reload the image or view it another way. I have noticed in Phoenix that instead if displaying a broken image link, if the image cannot be downloaded, it becomes a blank space -- even attempting to highlight does not indicate anything was there. The only way to see that there was an image is through viewsource for the img src attribute. This does not happen if the download is interrupted -- for instance, if I become disconnected or hit "stop" before the image has downloaded, the image placeholders or "broken image" placeholders remain opon the page. this bug only seems to happen on pages where the image cannot be downloaded. I would love to see this fixed, or to obtain an explanation as to why it has not been offered. Thank you for reading. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load page with broken image. 2. Image disappears -- no "broken image" placeholder or indication that image exists. Only way to notice presence of image is through view source. Actual Results: Image disappears -- if you were unaware that there was an image upon the page, it would look as if there was no img on the page. Expected Results: Displayed a "broken image" symbol similar to that in other browsers if an image cannot be loaded.

This is not Phoenix specific, and I believe it's intentional too.
Component: General → Image: Layout
OS: Windows 98 → All
Product: Phoenix → Browser
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Then is there a workaround that will allow me to view "broken" images? I really don't like having them just disappear, especially if they're really the only reason I'm loading the page.

Yes, I wanted to report the same bug. This behaviour with broken images is very unfortunate for web developers too! Please display a broken image (or make it possible to enable this) for broken images and allow right click to see the URL, for example. I am using Mozilla 1.2.1. Thanks, Ferenc
This should be marked as INVALID, since we are doing what is supposed to be done. See bug 41924 which implemented this which has LOTS of supporting docs. As for a workaround, there has to be a way to set some default css style pararmeter.
