It would be great if users could simply set their web-mailer as default within the Browser and their OS default to the browser to allow them clicking on mailto-links and be redirected directly to the correct page to start writing a mail.
The base for that to work is the implementation of registerProtocolHandler, which could be further improved and refined to offer that.
Version with two bars, two defaults (internal/os) can be set individually.

Hi! I am trying to get this change into Fx121 and I hope that you could help me with the data review. That would be of great help. The entire change is also supposed to be part of a Nimbus experiment, but that is not fully implemented yet.
