RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 169777

People

(Reporter: joemny, Assigned: asa)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130

During launch, the splash screen displays and the full browser does not launch.
Going to Task Manager the program does not display in the applications tab but
does show as Mozilla.exe in the processes tab. The CPU line shows "00". Stopping
the process and re-launching usually solves the problem. There are 20 other
processes running.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch the browser or e-mail from the start menu.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The splash screen displays but the browser does not start.

Expected Results:
Display the splash screen and then open the browser
Reporter:
Can you please create an ADDITIONAL TEST profile (run "mozilla -profilemanager")
I have had the same problem running Windows XP Home using the following builds:
1.2.1
1.3 Alpha
Nightly build from 1/6/2003

However, I can't get the program to run even when I kill the process. I have to
reload Mozilla.
Reporter, please close Mozilla, delete the xul.mfl file in your profile
directory, and restart Mozilla. Does that fix the problem?

If not, repeat the procedure, but this time delete the chrome.rdf file in the
chrome subdirectory. (This last one could change some of your preferences back
to defaults, forcing you to change them back.)
Andrew,

Deleting xul.mfl solved the problem. Thanks for all your help.

Mike
