See bug 1871727, it isn't yet clear which key format(s) Thunderbird should support.

I see that RNP is working on support for the LibrePGP v5 format, for example
https://github.com/rnpgp/rnp/commit/1e1c5b8abd85bbab79a94d377a19ef3606eb171a

I think Thunderbird should turn off all v5 related functionality, processing/parsing/accepting/generating, until a decision in bug 1871727 was made.

As of today, using the RNP v0.17.0 release that Thunderbird is currently using, my impression is that all v5 code is disabled; we had disabled the use of AEAD in bug 1830858.

This bug will become relevant when updating to a newer version of RNP in the future, while bug 1871727 has not yet been decided.
