+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1864398 +++

The version numbers of Gecko, Firefox and Thunderbird are getting increased from 123 to 124 on 2024-01-22.

Merges from the integration branch autoland to mozilla-central will be blocked once the version gets increased on mozilla-central until Bugzilla has support for version 124.

The new flags should be added on Friday before the version increase.

:dkl should we be disabling the milestones for previous releases (69 to 121)?

Flags: needinfo?(dkl)

:dkl should we be disabling the milestones for previous releases (69 to 121)?

I have disabled them in batches in the past when requested but nothing is automated and is a manual proces. Should I update the code that adds the new milestones/versions to also disable old ones such as new version - 3?

Flags: needinfo?(dkl) → needinfo?(dsmith)

I think so as I don't see a reason to have them enabled

Flags: needinfo?(ryanvm)

Being able to set older target milestones can be useful in the case of bugs being resolved after the fact (like "turns out this was fixed by bug XYZ back in Firefox 112" kinds of situations). I'm not saying we need years' worth of them, but I think more than 3 is good. What's driving the question now?

Flags: needinfo?(ryanvm) → needinfo?(dsmith)

no real driver, simply a conversation with glob and the old documentation https://wiki.mozilla.org/index.php?title=BMO/new-version&oldid=1229544.

I think having a few open is fine too, but i dont see the need to have years of old milestones active. Is -10 reasonable?

Flags: needinfo?(dsmith)

Sounds fine

Sounds fine

Ok -10 it is. Will try to take a look soon.

I have disabled old versions/milestones up to -10 for the relevant products. I am working on bug 1877294 which will do this automatically when we add new releases in the future.
